Guest Post: Favorite Beauty Items Under $10, $20, and $40

Hi again, everyone! Meredith here, from The Social Chair, helping fill in while Julia enjoys her first few days of marital bliss on her honeymoon!

If you’re anything like me, you have some tried and true beauty routine items, and you’ve learned there are some beauty items worth the splurge and some amazing products out there at drugstore prices. Today I’m sharing some of the knowledge I’ve learned along the way. Here are a few of my favorite beauty, skin, and make-up items at three different price points.

These can all be found at your local drugstore!

Neutrogena All-in-1 Acne Control Face Wash: This is a new-to-me product  and so far I am loving it. It has tiny little exfoliating beads that leave my skin feeling clean and ready for the day! $9.99

Essie Nail Polish in Ballet Slippers – A classic nail polish color from one of everyone’s favorite brands. I wear this color almost year round. $7

Herbal Essences Volume Mousse – During a recent haircut my stylist recommend I use a mousse to help get the volume style I want each day. He insisted it’s no longer the 90s, and hair mousse is making a full-on come back. This stuff is great and cheap. $4

Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Shampoo – Plain and simple, this shampoo does the job and leaves my hair feeling and looking great. I try to only wash my hair 5-6 times a week, while using dry shampoo on the “off” days. It’s really made such a difference!. $5.99

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Gloss – This gloss is very similar to a gloss in my “Under $40” category, and to be honest, sometimes I can’t tell the difference between the two! This lip gloss comes in a vast array of colors and leaves a great, shiny color behind with no sticky-business. $5.99

A little bit more expensive, but you can rely on them to be great.
L’Oreal BB Cream – I’ve professed my love of BB cream on my blog before; it is just such an awesome product. I would be totally OK wearing just BB cream out of my apartment if I was short on time. I love it as a corrector and primer for my skin. $11

CeraVe PM Lotion – I actually use both CeraVe’s AM and PM lotions, and have blogged about them before, too. They were recommended to me by my dermatologist a few years ago and I’ve been using the lotions daily ever since! $13

Eyeko Eyeliner – Thanks to a Birchbox subscription I discovered Eyeko’s products. This eyeliner lasts all day and is super easy to apply with an ultra fine tip. $16

Cetaphil Lotion – The perfect, lightweight daily moisturizing lotion. Another classic :) $15

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF – All summer long I’ve relied on Neutrogena’s sunscreen, and it hasn’t let me down! $12

Worth the splurge!

bareMinerals Original Foundation Powder – This stuff is so great. Easy to put on and instantly makes your face look pretty close to flawless. Love it. $27

Bobbi Brown Blush – I grew up with my Mom using Bobbi Brown blush, so I naturally wanted to start wearing it when I was younger, and I’ve stuck with it ever since. $26

Chanel Glossimer – The hands down most perfect lip gloss. Worth every penny (I also love giving these as gifts!) $29.50

Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel – A little bit of this goes a long way. I’ve tried a few different brands, and keep coming back to Clarins for a natural looking and easy to apply tanning gel. Bonus, there’s no weird smell with this one! $35

Are any of these your favorites, too? I’d love to hear some of your beauty bests!

Thank you Tartan & Sequins readers for allowing me to share with you some of my favorite products!

  1. I live and die by bare minerals! I think it's the only product I couldn't live without. I'd happily swap out all expensive products if I could just keep my matte powder!
