Trendspotting: Plum Pouts

L - R Dior, Urban Decay, Revlon, Soap & Glory

Hi everyone! It's Sascha from Sascha Sophia Beauty here to keep you posted on this season's hottest beauty trend - the plum lip! I know, plum verges on purple, and purple on the lips sounds scary, but I'm here to share four options that are anything but! From a glossy berry to vampy violet, I've got the spectrum covered, and at all price points to boot!

Top - Bottom: Soap & Glory, Revlon, Urban Decay, Dior

The first option and probably least intimidating comes from Soap & Glory. I wrote about my love for the brand's body products here, and recently shared some of my makeup purchases from the line (only available in the UK, sadly) on my YouTube channel, but the Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Plum Jam can be nabbed at Sephora for $16. It boasts big time shine without the feel of a sticky gloss. The berry color is sheer and wearable for everyday.

If you're looking for a tad more color, Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum has you covered. This super moisturizing formula is more opaque than the Soap & Glory option, but without being too dark. It's also the most affordable option at $6.49 from Target.

Upping the ante is Urban Decay's new Revolution Lipstick in Jilted. This vibrant blue-toned magenta is killer for a night out or just if you like to stand out! At $22, all of the Revolution lipsticks are well worth it with their crazy creamy texture and long wearing formula.

Dior Addict Extreme in Black Tie

If you really want to rock the dark plum look, though, you have to try Christian Dior's Dior Addict Extreme in Black Tie. A luxury item at $31, this dark berry shade will stain your kisser the perfect plum color in a wet-look texture that is completely unique.

Which plum will you be trying this Fall?

Falling for Short Shorts

As Indian Summer continues in San Francisco, I am enjoying the warm weather but also keeping myself ready for the temps to drop at a moment's notice. Enter my new weekend uniform - a scarf, slouchy sweater (you know how I love the slouch), cut-offs and booties. I've only got a couple more weeks of this weather so I'm taking full advantage.

Not-So-Boring Black

So it's pretty clear by this point that I love wearing black. It's so effortlessly chic and I think works well with my coloring. However, in an effort not to be too much of a snooze (the risk one runs when wearing too much black), I try to mix the textures and shapes up. For a night out this past weekend, I rocked this tiered black skirt and my new favorite moto jacket that's brocade and piped leather.

This is what happens when your husband takes your blog pics - non-stop harassment.

The Slouchy Tee

I will openly admit that I am not really into tight clothing. Well okay, really just tight tops. I far prefer a baggy or slouchy top any day over a tight tank. Maybe its because I like to eat and prefer to keep my gut to myself or maybe I feel like it gives the illusion that I'm thinner than I am, I don't know, but I cannot get enough slouchy tops to save my life. Half-tucked into a pair of skinny jeans is my jam. Luckily for me, these suckers are in style in a major way for fall so I will be stocking up BIG TIME. Here are some of my favorites.

Clockwise: Madewell, Vince, H&M, Vince, James Perse

And of course, there's always my trusty favorite, the vintage cotton v-neck from J.Crew. Any others I should be considering?

Hello Moto

Shhhhhh don't tell, but I'm wearing white pants after Labor Day. It's rather hypocritical of me considering I have always been so against it. Whether it's the Indian Summer in SF or just the jeans themselves, I don't know but I CANNOT STOP WEARING THEM. Don't tell my mother.

You know how I am adjusting back to having time and money again? Well, last weekend I went shopping and did some major damage. On my list? Printed blouses (trying to get more prints into my wardrobe of all solids), slouchy tees and sweaters, moto jeans and a new winter coat (more on that later).

I picked up this blouse at H&M after Lauren's post here and couldn't resist this moto jacket from Zara. I mean HELLO IT'S BROCADE and PIPED LEATHER(ish). Plus, one can never have too many moto jackets in my opinion.

Let's also talk about these Rag & Bone booties. After stalking them for months, I finally decided to pull the trigger. Sure, they are expensive but like moto jackets, one can never have too many pairs of booties, especially in San Francisco. They are super chic and also very comfortable. I'm obsessed and it would appear that I'm not the only one.

Product Review: Josie Maran Argan Oil

Right before my wedding I started using a new face moisturizer. Come to think of it, that probably wasn't the best idea I've ever had, changing face products right before one of the biggest days of my life, but luckily it all worked out. It actually worked out amazingly- I'm in love.

The product I am referring to is Josie Maran's 100% Pure Argan Oil. I had heard about the product for awhile but after reading this review on Gal Meets Glam, I was sold. I mean, have you seen Julia's skin? To borrow a friend's expression, I'm buying whatever she's selling.

Julia of Gal Meets Glam and her flawless skin.

The Argan Oil is amazing. To be fair, I am a big fan of serums/oils for the face and this one is no exception. I mix it with my tinted moisturizer every morning. It's the perfect amount of moisture for my skin. It does take a little bit of time to absorb though so you probably won't want to go straight into makeup afterwards but if you give it some time it's totally worth it. Josie Maran actually has a new version- Argan Oil Light- if you want something lighter too.

If you're in the market for a new moisturizer, I suggest giving this product a try!

Transition Into Fall

After two weeks in hot and sunny Fiji, I returned on Indian Summer back here in San Francisco. For all of September and at least half of October, it's still warm-ish here in SF (meaning you can get away with a light jacket versus a wool coat). It's exciting because I can wear my summer clothes mixed in with my fall ones for a few more weeks. Here are some of the pieces I'm rocking for the next few weeks and into fall.

H&M Sweater, Jean Shorts, Mackage Moto Jacket (great find from Target here), H&M V-Neck,
J Brand Moto JeansRag & Bone Harrow Booties, Red Essie Nail Polish, Chanel Lipstick

Black and Gold

Hiiii everyone, I'm finally back! Okay, I know I was back last week but I was still sharing wedding stuff with you all. What I'm trying to say is that I'm back with my regular content! I'll still post our official pics when we get them but other than that, we're back to business as usual!

I am actually really relieved that all the wedding excitement is over. The day was perfect and I had the best time ever, but I am definitely enjoying getting my old life back after 1 year of wedding planning. It's amazing to have money and free time again!

Speaking of free time, if you follow me in Instagram (@tartanandsequins), you know that the hubs and I (kind of crazy to be saying that) went on a little date on Friday night. Date nights on Friday are my favorite- they're the perfect way to end the week. I had worn this shirt and jeans to work that day and popped on a moto jacket and my sparkly gold shoes to jazz things up. You may recognize the shoes from this post? Yep, they were my rehearsal dinner shoes :)

Moto Jacket (similar options under $100 here and here), Zara Blouse,
BDG Jeans, Jimmy Choo Shoes, GiGi New York Clutch

Wedding Planning 101: The Honeymoon

On the Monday after our wedding, TC and I headed off to our honeymoon in Fiji. TC planned and organized the whole thing while I was more focused on the wedding day. It was actually almost comical when everyone was asking me where we were staying and for how long and I didn't know the answer! It wasn't until the day after the wedding that I started researching where we were going, the temp, etc.

Yes, this "seaplane" is how we got to our island. Well okay, how we got to an island where a boat picked us up to go to our island.

The view of our resort from the plane.

Arriving at Navutu Stars.

A warm welcome.

An even better welcome- cocktails.

Luckily TC did the most wonderful job planning the honeymoon and where we stayed, Navutu Stars Resort, was phenomenal. Completely isolated (no seriously, we took three planes and two boats to get there) Navutu was completely relaxing and beautiful. We did a fair amount of reading on the beach but also went for hikes, visited the local village, went kayaking, snorkeling and even fishing (I know, I was surprised I enjoyed it too, being the vegetarian I am).

I know, I'm a lunatic. Also, for the record, this was the first and last time we wore life jackets.

The resort was completely isolated on the island so everything was self-contained- the resort bar, restaurant, spa were our only options. Luckily, the food and drinks were amazing, the spa was wonderful and everyone at Navutu was so nice, including the guests. We made a ton of friends and even enjoyed several rose-fueled nights. It was the perfect place for a honeymoon and one I would recommend to anyone!

Our beachfront burre.

Some cute guy I met on the beach.

Kava night at the resort.

No hairdryer was used on this entire trip. Scary, I know.

Insanely good eggplant dish.

TC with one of his many fish.

TC with his Big Eye Tuna and Justin with his Mahi Mahi.

11 fish in total - 1 Mahi Mahi, 3 Walu, 1 Barracuda, 2 Tuna, 4 Rainbow Runners.

The caught Mahi Mahi for lunch.

Sunset in Fiji. LSpace bikini of course.

Another delicious dinner.

TC's crab dinner.

My beloved rose.
Only available by the bottle, I would assume I bought at least six bottles.
