Headed to Italy

In December, in the car on our way to a friend's holiday party, my husband turned to me and asked "should we go to Italy next year?" My mind nearly exploded with excitement. I have always wanted to go to Italy and I could not wait to start making plans. After getting the clear from work a few weeks ago, we booked our tickets!! At the end of April, we'll be packing our bags and heading to Florence and Rome!

We have all of the well-known attractions picked out but I'd love to hear from you of any great places to eat, shop and/or drink. I know there are a million options and I'm sure we could walk in almost anywhere and find a gem but I'd like to hear your recos!

  1. It's been years since I was in Italy but OMG did I LOVE IT!!!! Florence is such an amazing city - I'm so jealous! I traveled on a college kid/staying in hostels budget so I'm sure others have better recommendations ;) Have fun!

  3. Definitely walk to the top of the Piazzale Michelangelo (a steep walk but well worth it!) in Florence! You will see one of the best views of the city and The Duomo, and there is a little restaurant where you can get a glass of wine and a buffet of really good bruschetta, meats and cheeses for 6 euro for appertivo (happy hour!). Also- the best gelato in Rome is by the Vatican, the Old Bridge Gelateria. Have so much fun!!

The hubs and I took this cooking class in Rome while on our honeymoon. Normally he hates any sort of cooking but loved the class probably because the instructor lets you nosh all along the way.

Favorite restaurant in florence is Ora d'aria. A bit of a splurge, nothing crazy, but such a fun experience. Make sure to book far in advance and ask for the chefs table (the table upstairs in front of the kitchen windows).

    Have the best time!!
