Girl Crush of the Week: Emily Helm of Life with Emily

What can I say about today's Girl Crush of the Week other than her outfits always make me smile. That may seem like a weird thing to say, but her use of color, pattern and texture just makes me happy. I mean, look at the dress above. Is it not TO DIE FOR?! The fabulous lady I'm referring to is none other than Emily Helm of the life + style blog Life with Emily. Please join me in getting to know her a little more as today's Girl Crush of the Week.

 

Style icons? I look a lot to celebrities like Olivia Palermo, Reese Witherspoon, and Lauren Conrad for style inspiration because I love their effortless chic looks. I also look to my favorite bloggers like Julia from Gal Meets Glam for style ideas. I get a lot of inspiration from the blogging world and will often times recreate a look with my own spin on it (and often at a much more affordable price!)

Favorite style trend of the moment? I have really been drawn to neutral tones lately. Neutrals are like a blank canvas and have the ability to be styled so many ways with different accessories. Plus I really like that with neutrals you can mix and match to create a lot of different outfits, too! 

Favorite book? I am an undercover book nerd! I read a few books a month. As for my favorite, I would have to say Gone Girl. It was one of those books that totally threw me for a loop and kept me turning page after page. But I also love anything by Jodi Picoult and Jane Green. 

Favorite perfume? My signature scent is Versace Bright Crystal, it is so fresh smelling.

Interior design philosophy? Currently I am a girl on a budget, so I try to work with what I’ve got! I love the mix of classic and modern though. And when it’s time to redecorate I will totally be going with that type of theme throughout my home. 

Your go-to shopping destinations? Nordstrom is always a favorite because they carry my favorite brands and their customer service is wonderful. I also love Revolve Clothing, Shopbop, and ASOS for on-trend items! 

Must-have beauty product? Mascara. Even if I don’t wear anything else, I WILL have on mascara. It makes me look a little more awake, even if I’m really tired! My favorite go-to mascaras are bareMinerals Lash Domination, Too Faced Better Than Sex, and Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! 

Secret addiction? Hmmm… Friends on Netflix is my not-so-secret addiction. I will binge watch that show like no other! But an addiction that people may not know….Goldfish. I really, really love Goldfish (haha) and have to almost force myself to not eat them every day. Oops!

Motto/quote to live by? “Live in the Moment” I have a really hard time wanting to plan ahead or think back on what I could have changed in the past and it really throws me off. So thinking about this quote helps me focus on the present and truly enjoying this specific moment that I’m living in. 

Favorite drink? Non-alcoholic: Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte from Starbucks…I love my caffeine. Alcoholic: Craft Beer… I am a bit of a beer snob and I really enjoy trying different beers. One of my favorite cities is Asheville because they have so many amazing breweries and craft beer! 

Favorite meal to prepare? Confession: I am really terrible at cooking. I have four or five dishes that I can prepare but that’s about it! I will say, breakfast food is my favorite to cook! 

Favorite piece of jewelry? Anything Kendra Scott…it’s my obsession

Best way to unwind? Taking a bath and reading a book. 
Favorite workout? I am a Pure Barre addict. I love the atmosphere, the technique, and all of the girls at the studio. 

Favorite fitness apparel brand/item? I really like Gap’s fitness apparel. The price point is great and it fits me so well!
