Easy Breezy

I've had this black jumpsuit for probably a year now but only worn it once. I've gotten it out of the closet several times, but just haven't been able to style it correctly. This weekend, I was determined to make it work, so I turned to Pinterest to see how others were styling it.

My ingoing assumption was that the black jumpsuit was like the LBD and needed to be styled accordingly- with the jumpsuit being the base from which to layer on. What I learned though was that the jumpsuit stands on it's own as the statement piece and you don't need to add much to make it look fabulous. So I threw on a pair of my favorite turquoise earrings and a gold cuff and called it a day. Easy breezy.

Blush Pink Inspired

Inspired by Jessica's post, I decided to get into the Spring spirit with my own blush pink look. A score from the Piperlime sale, this light pink blouse was a little outside my comfort zone (just not a shape I normally wear) but I'm so happy with it. It's pretty and feminine without being too froo-froo and goes great with jeans as seen here or a skirt for fancier occasions (hello Easter).

Current Obsessions

We just bought a new loveseat for our living room and it's forcing us to make a much-needed update. I've been looking all over for inspiration and fabric, and Loom Decor has been a great resource. Loom Decor offers designer-quality custom window treatments and accessories that won't break the bank. They have such a great selection of fabrics and styles to fit with all different decorating tastes. Like how pretty is this beautiful floral print? If only my husband was down with chintz...

These "Current Obsessions" posts are fun to write. I keep an ongoing note on my phone about anything I come across that I love and want to share with you. Once I have what feels like a good amount- like 4-6, I write the post. It's easy and fun and filled with little goodies. Without further ado, here are my current obsessions.

It's springtime and that means time to stock up on maxi dresses. This Auguste Gyspy Maxi Dress is so cool it hurts. I like how it could be worn in 3 out of the 4 seasons with a change in shoes and toppers.

How pretty are these Outdoor Voices leggings? Not only are they pretty, but my friend Kat just ordered them and says they're legit- nice thickness, staying power and good grip (for those of us that need it on the pilates reformer machines). I need to order these powder blue ones STAT.

I love having my house smell yummy and while I love to have a candle burning, that isn't always practical, so diffusers are a great option. In the winter, I always have a diffuser of Spiced Chestnut from Williams Sonoma going. Now that we're past the holidays though, I am loving the Voluspa Baltic Amber diffuser. It's def a darker, rich, more complex smell, but it's so so yummy.

The Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Brush is a Godsend for those looking for a more subtle contour. I know what you're thinking- really Julia, Kat Von D? I know, I normally would not have even considered anything from her brand but Jaclyn Hill recommended it and she's my idol so I went for it. This brush is super easy to work with and blend your contour out without leaving harsh lines.

The Wet Brush is a detangling dream! After loving this brush at my hair salon, my hair stylist got it for me for my birthday. It's amazing with both wet and dry hair and the best part- IT'S CHEAP.

I have been seeing these Triangl bikinis everywhere and I think it's time I get one. They are incredibly affordable (under $100 for the set) and I've heard they fit like a dream. Summer, is that you? I hear you calling...

So those are my current obsessions. Anything else I should be obsessed with at the moment?

Guest Post - Blush Pink

Hello my name is Jessica and I write the fashion and fitness blog J Petite. Julia has been so gracious to let me host today, and talk about one of the biggest color trends this season.

From the runway of fashion week to the red carpet of the Oscars there was one color trend that dominated. Light pink! This color is not only feminine, but also has a subdued charm that is both appealing and flattering on skin tones. It can be paired with subtle neutrals to give an outfit a chic classic look or can be paired with a bold hue for an eye catching combination. This season light pink has been seen in many different forms whether it's fuzzy coats, eye catching pumps, sweet handbags, and even lace dresses. Pink is a neutral this spring, and be paired in many different ways.

I love to use blush tones as a pop of color to a neutral outfit. When I found this jacket, I knew that I had to have it right away!!! I love the sweetness of pink, and how girly and chic I feel whenever I wear it. I hope that I have inspired you to wear this color in many different ways this Spring!

Girl Crush of the Week: Lindsay Speace of The Pursuit of Style

I knew I liked interior designer Lindsay Speace's style the moment I started following her on Instagram. Then, when she sent me her responses to my girl crush questionnaire, I was like OMG we are spirit animals! I too love Lee Radziwell and find Elsie de Wolfe fascinating. So ya, we're totally BFFs now and I think you'll want to be her BFF too. Please join me in getting to know Lindsay Speace of the blog The Pursuit of Style and firm Lindsay Speace Interior Design, as today's Girl Crush of the Week.

Style icons?
  • Fashion: Lee Radziwell, Aerin Lauder, Olivia Palermo, Grace Kelly, Diana Vreeland
  • Interiors: Tom Scheerer, Peter Dunham, Madeline Castaing, Markham Roberts, India Hicks, Miles Redd, Lindsey Coral Harper

Favorite style trend of the moment? I'm loving that tassels are having a moment in both fashion and interiors. I can't get enough tassel earrings, necklaces, shoes and in my design work find myself wanting to add tassel drawer pulls or trim to everything! They're so playful.
Favorite book? The Catcher in the Rye
Favorite perfume? Lys 41 by Le Labo

Interior design philosophy? I strive to create interiors that are classic, colorful, and collected and believe that a home should be a reflection of its owners, not its decorator.
Your go-to shopping destinations? For fashion, Shopbop, Net-a-Porter/The Outnet, Sephora. For interiors, I can never resist the thrill of the hunt at a flea market or antique mall.

Must-have beauty product? I'm never without a tub of Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment. Mascara and an eyelash curler would be my other can't live withouts. I've been using L'Oreal Voluminous since high school.
Secret addiction? Instagram! (Follow Lindsay here)

Motto/quote to live by? "I am going to make everything around me beautiful. That will be my life." -Elsie de Wolfe
Favorite drink? Gin & Tonic, Dark 'n Stormy, French 75 or anything with St. Germain!

Favorite meal to prepare? In the winter I love making soup. It's such a comfort food. We recently tried Gwyneth Paltrow's roasted carrot soup which was surprisingly delicious--and most importantly super easy, no trip to a specialty store necessary--if something has over ten ingredients it's probably not going to happen, ha!
Favorite piece of jewelry? My engagement ring. My only guidance to my now husband was that I didn't want something new. He found a French estate piece circa the 1920s that has a really unique setting of sapphires and diamonds around the central diamond. It feels very "me."

Best way to unwind? I love to read. Getting lost in a book is one of the few things that can calm my racing mind!
Favorite workout? Ballet Barre
Favorite fitness apparel item? I'm so late to the band wagon on this, but I got a BKR water bottle for Christmas and it's really helped me up my water intake during the day.

Isn't Lindsay so fabulous and glam? Follow her adventures here:
