4th of July Style

Blair's festive chic.

I don't know about you, but I am really into the 4th of July. I love the warm-weather, the BBQs and the fireworks. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I get a four day weekend usually :) I also love that you can dress as festively as you'd like and no one judges. As I have been on a real dress kick recently, I plan on rocking a cute, casual dress for the 4th of July. Here are two of my favorite looks:

Look on the left: Tbags Dress, KJL Earrings, BLU Bracelet, Matiko Cork Wedges (on sale)
Look on the right: Elizabeth and James Dress, Tory Burch Sandals (on sale), BaubleBar Bracelets 1 and 2, BaubleBar Initial Necklace

What is everyone up to for the 4th?

Lauren's Looks for Less: Hilary Duff

I can clearly remember being 19 and cruising down the highway in my Civic, singing 'Let The Rain Fall Down' at the top of my lungs - I loved the semi-grown up version of Lizzie McGuire then and I love the fully grown up version of her now. From her studly husband to their adorable baby to her tabloid-free social scene, Hilary has got it going on. Even better, she's a super cute dresser. I saw this picture on People and thought it was great for this month's 'look for less'.

Hilary is wearing the perfect date night outfit - a sexy top, trendy pants and colorful heels. I thought the vertical striped pants were so different and fun, and found a super cheap pair at Forever 21.

F21 Vertical Stripe Pants $20

I scoured the internet for the better part of a 4-hour flight to Arizona and finally found the perfect option for the keyhole black top from Urban Outfitters.

Urban Outfitters Sparkle & Fade Harness Neck Cami $50

Nine West is my go-to brand for more reasonably priced shoes, and I found this fun pair on sale for $60. I thought the horizontal stripes on the heel played nicely off of the vertical stripes on the pants and the canvas material makes them a perfect pump for summer.

Nine West Filing Pump $60

I loved this look so much - and the $130 total price even more - that I bought it myself!

Happy bargain shopping, T&S readers!

Casual Summer Saturday

Sincere apologies for the lack of postings last week. Everything about this wedding is really kicking my a** and I'm exhausted 99% of the time. So instead of phoning it in to get more posts up, I'd rather post when I'm really inspired or have a cute look to share. Bear with me friends, I'm in the final push!
Target Sunnies (similar), Soft Joie Dress, Mossimo Sandals, J.Crew Chambray Shirt

On Saturday, we were running around doing, what else, but wedding errands. It was really nice out so I decided to bust out this Soft Joie dress. It is probably the softest and most comfortable thing I own! Originally purchased as a cover-up, I love that I can throw a denim shirt over it and it's fit for public consumption. I can't wait for more warm days to wear more dresses!

Wedding Planning 101: 2 Months Out

Photo c/o Off The Beaten Path Weddings

With almost two months until our wedding, things have come a long way since my last wedding update. The invitations have gone out (BIG thanks to my mother to hand-addressed them all), and the RSVPs are beginning to roll in. The reception menu has been finalized (I'm getting hungry just thinking about it) and the favors will arrive tomorrow. Almost everything is squared away for the rehearsal dinner.

For the ensembles, my fiancé is all set (and looking very handsome if I don't say so myself) and the bridesmaids have almost all received their dresses. They look simply adorable. A big thank you goes to the ladies at Weddington Way for being so wonderful and helpful with the bridesmaid dresses.

As for me, I went for my wedding dress fitting on Saturday and it fit like a glove! I brought tons of jewelry and accessories to see what worked best. The lovely ladies at Happily Ever Borrowed sent me some goodies to try as well (more on that later), which was amazing. I actually had even had my hair trial the night before so I was able to, for the most part, see the full look together. Check out my Pinterest board for some of the looks I tried. Now I just have to get to work on buffing up these arms of mine ;)

So what's left? Here is the challenge about wedding planning- who the eff knows? There are so many unknowns. I'm sure something major will pop up that I had no clue about. The good news is that, with just two months to go, the end is in sight! I get to be married to my BFF and have one heck of a party.

Any advice for the final stretch?

Romper Room

Young, Fabulous & Broke Bunnie Romper

I have noticed that quite a few rompers have been catching my eye lately. As we're going on a fairly casual honeymoon (a beach somewhere), I am looking for no-fuss looks for the trip. My fiancé, of course, attests that I should only need to pack bikinis but we all know better. Here are some of the ones currently on my wish list.

Ramy Brook Lulu Romper

Karina Grimaldi Cozumel Print Romper

Rory Beca Keaton V-Neck Romper

How do you all feel about rompers? Yay or nay?

Girl Crush of the Week: Meredith Reilly of The Social Chair

Today's Girl Crush of the Week comes to us from my alma mater, Miami University. I don't know why Miami girls are so awesome- must have been all the Bagel & Deli we ate and the Mind Probes we drank. One of the most awesome? Meredith Reilly. In college, Meredith was the Social Chair of her sorority (Delta Gamma just like Allison) and now heads up a blog of the same name. She is super fun, preppy and someone I think you'll all enjoy getting to know. Please allow me to introduce Meredith Reilly of The Social Chair as today's Girl Crush of the Week!

Meredith and her fiancé, Paul, literally RIGHT after they got engaged.
I would also like to discuss Paul's awesome pink blazer when the moment is right Meredith and how I can secure one for TC.

  • Style icons? Kate Middleton for sure. She has such a beautiful, classic, and effortless style (pregnant or not!). I also love seeing what Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jennifer Aniston are wearing. My Mom also has amazing taste in fashion and is my top shopping partner.
  • Favorite book? Earlier this year I read The Happiness Project based off a recommendation from Natalie’s blog (Designer Bags & Dirty Diapers), and I absolutely loved it! It’s full of practical and useful information on how to get the most happiness out of life, and also served as such an excellent reminder to soak in the good moments and not sweat the small stuff (something I’ve been guilty of before!). I can’t recommend this book enough.
  • Favorite perfume? I love Bond No. 9’s products! My all time favorite is their West End scent. The flagship store in NYC (on Bond Street no less) is always on my list of must-do’s when I’m up there.
  • Interior design philosophy? My interior design philosophy is still evolving. Paul (my fiancé) and I are renting right now with the hopes of buying our own place in the next year or so. Interior decorating is something I hope to hone in on over the next few years, and is something I’m pretty excited about! You can see on my Pinterest board that I am a fan of crisp whites and blues, traditional elements with a pop here and there of something a little unexpected.
Meredith and her fiance, Paul, in Bermuda (LUCKY).
  • Best "hidden gem" store? My twin sister and I went to separate colleges, which meant lots and lots of trips to visit each other! She went to UVA in Charlottesville, VA, and worked at this darling store called Finch. We would undoubtedly shop there when I came to visit her at school and now whenever we’re in town for a football game I stop in and almost always walk away with something new! The owner brings in a lot of beautiful dresses and accessories from designers you can’t really find elsewhere.
  • Must-have beauty product? I swear by both CeraVe’s AM and PM lotions. I learned early on that daily SPF is an important step in my beauty routine. I also just discovered BB cream and am loving it! It serves as such a great platform for the rest of my make-up (which always includes at least a swipe of both mascara and blush).
  • Favorite song? I’m currently obsessed with Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise,” and have declared it my anthem for summer! All time favorite songs include Wagon Wheel, almost anything by Pat McGee or Pat Green, and I have been known to belt out a few 80’s classics and Boy Band numbers.
  • Secret addiction? Guilty pleasure TV! Each week my girlfriends and I gather to watch either the Bachelor or Bachelorette (we’re excited to watch Des find her true love this season! Haha). I also love almost all of the Real Housewives, with OC, NY, and Beverly Hills as my top favorites.
Meredith with her twin sister and mom.
  • Quote to live by? “Do unto others as you would have done unto you” -- I try to keep that in mind for both big and small gestures (from holding doors open to being a shoulder to cry on when a loved one needs it). Also, “kill ‘em with kindness,” is motto I learned from one of my best friends in college, and is always a good tactic.
  • Favorite drink? I start off the day with a cup of coffee and then water all day long until happy hour! I can never say no to a nice cold glass of white wine, a good Malbec, or a margarita!
  • My bracelet stack isn't complete without... A watch! Am I old school for still using a watch to check the time? I usually wear my Michelle watch, given to me by my parents this Christmas, or a silver & gold watch I got for my 25th birthday. I wear one of those every day.
  • I get my sweat on by... Usually I try to get my workouts in before work by either cardio in the gym or a jog outside. I try to go to a muscle sculpting class like Body Pump once a week to keep things from getting too squishy. This year I have the goal of training for and completing my first half marathon, we’ll see how that goes!

Single Sole Heels

Manolo Blahnik

Ask me last year to rock a single sole heel and I would have laughed in your face. Fast forward to this summer and the hunt for my rehearsal dinner shoes and they are all I can think about. From the Manolo BBs to the Jimmy Choo Anouks, I cannot get enough. Here are my favorites (one of them is actually the pair I bought for the rehearsal dinner, any guesses as to which?):

Long Black Dress (LBD)

Let me tell you, this long back dress (LBD), has paid for itself in spades. I'm sure you all remember me wearing it during my bachelorette party, but I also have worn it to my friend's, Dena, cancer charity event and then to work on a warm summer day paired with a jean jacket. Considering the dress was only about $40, I'd say a cost per use of $10 so far is not bad. Something tells me that by the end of summer, that CPU is going to be down to the pennies!

On this particular occasion, my fiancé and I were headed up to Napa for the day. We had to pick up some wine for the wedding and decided to make an afternoon of it by heading to our favorite winery, Duckhorn, and then to Farmstead for dinner. I wanted to look cute and it was 95 degrees that day in Napa that day so a dress was the way to go.

Father's Day Gift Guide

Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime Shave Products - Give your dad an old school shave with a fresh, summery scent.

With Father's Day coming up on Sunday and me having a new gentleman to shop for this year (my soon-to-be father-in-law), I have been on the hunt for some serious gifts. After much searching, the below options are some of my favorites.

Charles Mark & Son's Striped Socks - A friend of mine started this company and it's amazing. For each pair of Charles Mark & Sons socks purchased, a brand new pair of crew socks will be donated to those in need. Get your dad and someone less fortunate a new pair of stylish socks this Father's Day!

Chillsner - I saw this when I was in LA and almost bought it for my fiance but decided to save it for Father's Day!

Tactical BBQ Apron - Some serious gear for a serious griller. It's just too funny not to get for your dad for Father's Day.

Funky Chunky Sea Salt Caramel Gift Tin - A mix of popcorn, chocolate, caramel, cashews and sea salt, what dad wouldn't want this?! I mean, I want it! No, seriously...
